HISTORY Adult Learning Center Williston Steps to Success

Photo of Garvin Stevens The Adult Basic and Secondary (ABSE) Program began in 1969 at UND-Williston Center under the direction of Garvin Stevens.

Mr. Stevens recognized that there was a need for this service in the Williston area so he decided that UND-Williston would be the sponsoring agency and house the evening program.

In 1984 the ABSE program expanded into a day program and became known as the Adult Learning Center (ALC).

UND-Williston became Williston State College in July of 1999 and continues to sponsor the ALC.
